Brand monitoring API for social media and AI answers

Track what people post about your brand and what AI engines answer when buyers ask about your category. Each check is one API call, and any of them can run on a schedule.

/v1/prism

Your brand in AI answers and on social

  • GET /v1/prism/ai-visibility
  • GET /v1/search/everywhere
  • GET /v1/prism/discover
  • GET /v1/prism/brand-mentions

A brand monitoring API returns what people post about a brand on social platforms and what AI answer engines say about it, as data your code can store and compare. SocialCrawl measures how often Perplexity and Grok name your brand for a buyer's question, sweeps social sources for mentions in one call, and runs either check weekly from 21 credits a run.

What teams build with it

Each job is one call or a short chain. The line under each card is the request sequence.

Is your brand in the AI answer?

Send your brand, a buyer's question and up to five competitors. Perplexity and Grok each answer it several times, and you get the share of answers that named each brand, per engine.

Endpoint chainprism/ai-visibility -> per_brand.visibility_pct

Which sites the engines cite

Every answer comes back with the domains it cited, ranked across all runs. Add web_baseline to see which of those domains you do not rank on yet.

Endpoint chainprism/ai-visibility (include=web_baseline) -> citations

Every new mention, once a day

One search covers the social sources for your brand name. A daily Monitor re-runs it and posts the results to your webhook.

Endpoint chainsearch/everywhere -> monitors (daily)

Monthly report against competitors

One Discover run collects last month's posts about your brand and each competitor, judges every post for relevance and stance, and counts the results per brand.

Endpoint chainprism/discover (period=last_month, one group per brand)

Mention volume and sentiment over time

Pass a start date and get mention volume and sentiment as a time series with a computed direction. The data lags the open web by a few days, and each response names where its sentiment came from.

Endpoint chainprism/brand-mentions (date_from) -> computed trend

Comments under each brand's top posts

In the same Discover run, read the comments under each brand's top posts and label their sentiment, so the report covers replies as well as posts.

Endpoint chainprism/discover (comments=inline) -> comments.items

How the brand monitoring API works

Four calls cover both halves of the job. Run each one once, then schedule the ones you want to keep watching.

Prices are in credits from packs that never expire. A failed upstream call is refunded, and a metered call refunds the part it did not use.

  1. GET /v1/prism/ai-visibility

    Measure your share of AI answers

    Send a brand, a topic or up to 20 prompts, and your competitors. With preset=quick each prompt runs five times on Perplexity and on Grok, and the response gives appearance share per engine plus the cited domains.

    2 credits a probe; one topic on preset=quick costs at most 20
  2. GET /v1/search/everywhere

    Sweep social for mentions

    One query searches the social sources together over a lookback window and returns ranked posts on one schema.

    flat 20 credits a call
  3. POST /v1/prism/discover

    Build the monthly report

    One POST names each brand as a group, sets period=last_month and runs in the background. Rows come back per brand with stance counts. Send dry_run first for a free quote.

    339 credits for six brands and one month, measured 20/10/2026
  4. GET /v1/prism/brand-mentions

    Track the trend

    A keyword and a start date return mention volume and sentiment over the window, with a computed direction and judged recent mentions.

    flat 50 credits a call

Run it every week, priced up front

Each plan below is one request. A Monitor re-runs a call on a cadence and posts each result to your webhook. A Discover schedule re-runs a report and delivers only the posts that earlier runs did not.

  • Your brand in AI answers, weekly

    21 credits a run

    About 84 credits a month

    One buyer question and two competitors, five runs on each engine. Every week the result reaches your webhook with the change since the previous run.

    About 630 credits a month

    The last day's mentions of your brand from the social sources, collected once a day and posted to your webhook.

  • Brand report against a competitor, weekly

    About 44 credits a run

    Capped at 1,500 credits a month

    Two brands, with every post judged for relevance and stance. Each run delivers only new posts, and the schedule pauses before a run would pass the monthly cap, then resumes the next month.

    }'

Add "dry_run": true to any of these requests and the API quotes it for free before anything is scheduled. Each Monitor run costs the call's price plus 1 credit, and a run that fails is refunded.

Compared with the usual setup

Teams usually pay for one tool for social listening and a second for AI visibility. These are the differences when both are API calls.

Brand monitoring API questions

What is a brand monitoring API?

A brand monitoring API returns public posts that mention a brand, and what AI answer engines say about it, as structured data. You store the results, compare runs and build alerts or reports on them in your own code.

How do I check whether AI engines mention my brand?

Call GET /v1/prism/ai-visibility with your brand, a buyer's question or a list of prompts, and up to five competitors. Perplexity and Grok each answer every prompt several times, and the response gives the share of answers that named each brand, per engine, with the domains they cited.

Which AI engines are covered?

Perplexity Sonar and Grok. Both ground their answers in web search and return the sources they used. ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude are not probed today, so the result describes those two engines only.

How much does it cost to monitor a brand every week?

A weekly AI visibility check on one question costs 21 credits a run, about 84 credits a month, as quoted by the API's own dry run. A daily social sweep costs 21 credits a run, about 630 a month. Credits come in packs that never expire, and signup includes 100 free credits.

Can I compare my brand with competitors?

Yes. AI visibility measures up to five competitors from the same answers. A Discover run takes each brand as its own group, so every post and every count carries the brand it is about.

How do I get alerts when something changes?

Create a Monitor with POST /v1/monitors. Each run sends a signed webhook with the result and the change since the previous run, and alert rules can hold the webhook back until a number crosses a threshold you set.

Can I build a client report or a product on this data?

Yes, for transformed views shown to your own users or clients. Our terms permit dashboards, reports and derived products, and restrict raw passthrough or bulk redistribution of the data.

curl "https://www.socialcrawl.dev/v1/search/everywhere?query=acme&lookback_days=7" \
  -H "x-api-key: $SOCIALCRAWL_API_KEY"

The first call measures AI answers for one question. The second sweeps social for the last seven days. Swap the key, the brand and the question, and both run as written.
