Sprout Social Pricing: Official $199/Seat, API at $399
Sprout Social pricing is $79–$399 per seat annually. Five Advanced seats: $23,940/year before Listening. Official cards vs the stale numbers still ranking.
Official Sprout Social pricing is $79, $199, $299, or $399 per seat per month on annual billing. Month-to-month is $99 / $249 / $399 / $499. A five-person agency on Advanced is $1,995 a month prepaid — $23,940 a year — before Trellis Plus and a Listening add-on with no public price. The Sprout API, BI export, and inbox sentiment sit on Advanced only. Essentials at $79 has no Smart Inbox. Numbers below are from Sprout's own pricing page, scraped 2026-09-02 (Last-Modified: 2026-09-01).
TL;DR — who should pay Sprout, and who is buying the wrong seat?
Sprout Social pricing is a per-human login for a full social media management suite. The right column depends on the job.
- You need publish + Smart Inbox + approvals in one UI. Buy Professional at $299/seat annual, or Advanced at $399 if you also need the Sprout API, BI export, or inbox sentiment.
- You want the same SMM job for less. Statusbrew claims it is 30–40% cheaper than Sprout. Hootsuite's self-serve ladder is $99–$399/user. Still a seat.
- You bought Sprout seats just to listen, export, or pipe data. You are paying Advanced plus an unpriced Listening add-on for a data job. A request-priced API covers that slice. It does not cover inbox, publishing, approvals, chatbots, or advocacy.
- You are looking at Essentials at $79. Publishing and profile/post reporting on five profiles. No Smart Inbox. No keyword monitoring. "Starts at $79" is Sprout's own meta line, not an engagement plan.
How much does Sprout Social cost?
Sprout publishes five plans. Four have list prices. Enterprise is custom. Annual cards sit on the pricing page; the monthly ladder lives in the FAQ, which several ranking posts still miss. Third-party dollars from Forbes Advisor, Spendflo, Statusbrew, CheckThat, and SocialRails are conflicts, not inputs to an average.
Sprout Social pricing plans, official list as of 2026-09-01:
| Plan | Annual (per seat/mo) | Monthly (per seat/mo) | Profiles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $79 | $99 | 5 |
| Standard | $199 | $249 | 5 |
| Professional | $299 | $399 | Unlimited |
| Advanced | $399 | $499 | Unlimited |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Annual is prepaid. Sprout says multi-payment terms "are not eligible for the same discount." The listed plans accept cards and PayPal. Trial is 30 days, no credit card, annual billing as the default. Source: Sprout pricing
SocialRails, updated 2026-08-04, claims Sprout "publishes an explicit monthly rate only for Essentials" and that the old $249 / $399 / $499 ladder "is gone." Source: SocialRails CheckThat, dated 2026-03-30, says there are "no month-to-month billing options." Source: CheckThat The official FAQ still lists Standard $249, Professional $399, and Advanced $499 as monthly rates. Those are not retired. They are the non-annual ladder.
$79 Essentials has no Smart Inbox
Essentials is a publishing plan: five profiles, a calendar, profile/post reporting, and Trellis. Inbox, keyword monitoring, and reviews start at Standard ($199). Conversation history is none on Essentials, 90 days on Standard, and full on Professional and Advanced. Brand keywords per group: none / 10 / 10 / 20. Source: Sprout pricing
That is the gap between Sprout's "starts at $79 per month" meta description and what a community manager actually needs. Spendflo, Statusbrew, and CheckThat skip Essentials and start the story at $199. Source: Spendflo Source: Statusbrew Source: CheckThat
What Standard vs Professional vs Advanced actually gates
The gates that change an agency invoice, not the 80-row marketing matrix:
Professional ($299 annual) adds unlimited profiles, message tagging, tag reporting, saved replies, bulk scheduling, Instagram grid planning, campaign tagging, message approval, an asset library, Facebook/X/Instagram competitor reports, and paid social reports. Source: Sprout pricing Statusbrew is right that tagging, reporting, and approvals are not on $199 — they sit at $299. Source: Statusbrew
Advanced ($399 annual) is the data slice: the Sprout API; HubSpot, Marketo, Dynamics 365, Salesforce, and Zendesk; inbox and review sentiment; BI-tool integration; scheduled report delivery; chatbots; CSAT/NPS; and an IP whitelist. Source: Sprout pricing If you bought seats so an analyst could hit an API or dump a warehouse, you are on this card, multiplied by every human login that needs to see it.
A data API replaces the pull / listen / report slice. It does not replace compose, calendar, inbox, approvals, or advocacy.
What does Sprout Social cost per user for a 5-person agency?
Sprout charges per seat. No published volume discount — Spendflo asserts the same, and the official page does not list one. Source: Spendflo Source: Sprout pricing Identical-seat TCO at the official annual cards:
| Seats | Standard $199 | Professional $299 | Advanced $399 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $199/mo · $2,388/yr | $299 · $3,588 | $399 · $4,788 |
| 3 | $597 · $7,164 | $897 · $10,764 | $1,197 · $14,364 |
| 5 | $995 · $11,940 | $1,495 · $17,940 | $1,995 · $23,940 |
| 10 | $1,990 · $23,880 | $2,990 · $35,880 | $3,990 · $47,880 |
A three-seat Standard team on month-to-month is 3 × $249 = $747/mo, against $597 on annual. SocialRails and CheckThat match the 3-seat Standard and 10-seat Professional figures. Source: SocialRails Source: CheckThat
Statusbrew's 4-person totals do not reconcile. They publish "$10,152 per year for a small team of 4" and "$15,552" on the $399 plan. Source: Statusbrew Official list: 4 × $199 × 12 = $9,552; 4 × $399 × 12 = $19,152. Both numbers stand. They are not averaged here.
Mixed-role math — Sprout has no viewer SKU
Sprout charges the same per human login. A designer, an analyst, or a lead who only needs reports pays Advanced ($399) if the team needs API or BI, or at least Standard ($199) to see the inbox. There is no viewer SKU.
Worked five-person agency:
- All-Advanced, so extras can peek at data: 5 × $399 × 12 = $23,940/year.
- The split the SERP never shows: 2 community managers on Advanced (inbox + tagging + API) = 2 × $399 × 12 = $9,576. The other three people only pull, listen, and report. Those three are a data-API slice, not three more Sprout seats.
Sprout will not sell half-price viewers. The save is not buying those three seats. Statusbrew's best independent point is this mixed-role tax: the occasional helper pays the same as the community manager. Source: Statusbrew
Add Trellis and the unpriced add-ons
Every listed plan includes 100 Trellis credits per seat per month. Trellis Plus is $28/user/month on annual, or $35 monthly. Source: Sprout pricing Five Advanced seats plus Trellis Plus: $23,940 + (5 × $28 × 12) = $25,620/year, before Listening.
Listening and Premium Analytics are add-ons "to the Standard plan and up," the same floor as Employee Advocacy and Professional Services. Influencer Marketing: "No Sprout plan required." No public list price for Listening, Premium Analytics, Advocacy, or Professional Services. Source: Sprout pricing Enterprise is white-glove onboarding; the official card does not say Listening is included. CheckThat claims Enterprise includes it — a conflict, not a merge. Source: CheckThat
Statusbrew's "$999/mo is an average of what people are generally paying" for add-ons is unsourced. Sprout "does not reveal the cost," which is the one part of that sentence that matches the official page. Source: Statusbrew CheckThat's "plan for 20–40% additional annual cost" is the same class of guess. Source: CheckThat Treat both as claims, not invoices.
The invoice line nobody ranking for this query prints: five Advanced seats + Trellis Plus + Listening (price unknown) versus two publisher seats + a data API for the rest. If the job is building a monitoring pipeline rather than buying listening seats, that is a social media monitoring API problem, not another $399 login.
G2 cons cluster on price, which is also why r/AskMarketing threads look for a cheaper seat. Anecdotes, not invoices. Source: G2 Source: Reddit
Which Sprout Social prices on Google are already stale?
Google is still serving 2024 lump sums that do not equal any ladder Sprout has published, current or previous. The SERP is arguing with itself. Official list is the number we trust; everyone else is a dated snapshot.
| Source | Dated | What they publish | Official (2026-09-01) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forbes Advisor snippet | 2024-10-04 | Standard $2,850 / Pro $4,550 / Advanced $5,700 [UNVERIFIED — page 403] | 1-seat annual: $2,388 / $3,588 / $4,788. Neither current list nor the old $249/$399/$499 × 12 ($2,988 / $4,788 / $5,988) equals the snippet |
| Spendflo | 2025-03-23 | TCV "$4,000–$30,000"; no Essentials; "invoiced monthly per user" | Annual is the default discounted ladder. One Standard seat is $2,388, not that band. Essentials exists |
| Statusbrew | 2025-07-22 | Starts $199; 4-person $10,152 / $15,552 on $399 | 4 × $199 × 12 = $9,552; 4 × $399 × 12 = $19,152 |

Forbes Advisor returned HTTP 403 on 2026-09-02. The 2024-10-04 SERP snippet is recorded so the conflict is visible, not so you treat those lumps as live prices. They match neither current × 12 nor the old monthly × 12.

Does Sprout Social publish enterprise pricing?
No. Sprout Social enterprise pricing is custom. The official card promises white-glove onboarding and does not publish a number. It also does not say Listening is included. Source: Sprout pricing
Spendflo's $4k–$30k and SpendHound's SERP averages are not list prices. Treat them as procurement folklore until someone shows an invoice.
Nonprofit is not an agency discount. It is US 501(c)(3) only, Professional and Advanced only, minimum two seats, annual. Displayed: Professional $239 (from $299) and Advanced $299 (from $399). Source: Sprout nonprofit pricing Statusbrew matches those cuts. Source: Statusbrew Sprout's meta says "up to 40% off"; the displayed cuts are about 20% and 25%. SocialRails' "25–50% off" is broader than official. Source: SocialRails No agency discount is published. Annual versus monthly is the prepaid ladder on the main pricing page.
Sprout vs Statusbrew vs a data API — which job are you buying?
The SERP only compares SMM clones. That is the wrong matrix if you bought Sprout seats to pull, listen, export, or search.
| Sprout Social | Statusbrew | SocialCrawl | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Full SMM suite | Cheaper per-seat SMM | Data API (pull / listen / report / search) |
| Entry list | $79 Essentials / $199 Standard (annual, per seat) | Per-seat SMM; Statusbrew claims 30–40% below Sprout — no public SKU table in this research | Pay-as-you-go credit packs (Free 100 cr; Starter 2,500 cr / £15; Growth 20,000 / £49; Pro 150,000 / £299; one-time, GBP) |
| 5-seat year (Standard-class) | $11,940 annual | Not in this scrape | Not seat-priced |
| Publishing / calendar | Yes (Essentials+) | Yes (SMM) | No |
| Smart Inbox / approvals | Inbox at Standard; approvals at Professional | SMM inbox (Statusbrew's pitch) | No |
| Listening | Paid Social Insights add-on, Standard+; no public price | SMM listening (their product) | Search/mention endpoints + /v1/search/everywhere (20 cr/call). Not a listening dashboard |
| API / warehouse export | Advanced only ($399) | Not claimed here | The product |
| Unified response schema | Sprout dashboard + Sprout API (Advanced), Sprout's own model | SMM UI | One response format, x-api-key |
| Free tier | 30-day trial, no card, annual default | Unknown — not tested here | 100 signup credits |
| Platforms | Sprout's native networks (next section) | SMM networks | 55 platforms, 449 endpoints (dated snapshot, 2026-09-02) |
| Computed fields | Sprout analytics / Trellis | SMM analytics | engagement_rate, estimated_reach, content_category, language when the endpoint returns them |
Sprout Social — the suite you pay per human for
Sprout works if you actually use publish + inbox + report in one UI. G2 rates it 4.4; the review count conflicts (6,876 on G2 vs 6,200 on Sprout's schema.org block). Same rating, different counts — we are not picking. Source: G2 Source: Sprout pricing Best for teams that run Smart Inbox and approvals, not teams that log in to export CSVs.
Statusbrew — the cheaper SMM seat already arguing this SERP
Statusbrew is a cheaper per-seat SMM UI. Their post claims 30–40% below Sprout and names Agorapulse, Planable, and Hootsuite in the same breath. Source: Statusbrew The mixed-role critique is the best independent takedown of Sprout's seat model on this SERP. For Hootsuite alternatives that are not another SaaS seat, see Hootsuite alternatives.
It is still a seat. We did not scrape Statusbrew's own public price list, so there is no SKU table here.
A data API — only if the job is pull / listen / report
The SocialCrawl API is request-priced. Analysts do not multiply a $399 seat. You get one envelope and an Explorer so you can see your data before writing a single line.
It is not a publisher, not a Smart Inbox, not approvals, not chatbots, not advocacy. If those are the job, this is the wrong column. Best for the agency that bought Advanced seats so an analyst could hit an API.
Which platforms does Sprout Social cover?
Sprout's native networks, as listed on the official pricing/feature matrix, include Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Tumblr, Glassdoor, Google Business, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and WhatsApp. Source: Sprout pricing Profile caps are five on Essentials and Standard, unlimited on Professional and Advanced.
A data API covering 55 platforms and 449 endpoints (dated snapshot, 2026-09-02) is a different surface. Universal search fans out across 14 platforms. Sprout covers the networks a community manager posts to. A data API covers research and dev sources Sprout will never publish to. Different jobs. Having more networks does not make the API a better inbox.
Can you pull Sprout data without five Advanced seats?
Sprout's data model lives in the dashboard. Scheduled report delivery, BI-tool integration, and the row labelled "Automate workflows with integrations (Sprout API)" sit on Advanced at $399/seat — multiplied by every login that needs to see it. Source: Sprout pricing That gate is invisible on every independent URL currently ranking for this query. Spendflo mis-files the API under Enterprise custom. Statusbrew and SocialRails never mention it.
Listening is a separate unpriced add-on, not the API, and not the Standard inbox keyword monitor. SocialRails's "listening included" table is the inbox monitor. Those are different products. Source: SocialRails Source: Sprout pricing You do not need Advanced for the Listening add-on. You need Advanced for the Sprout API.
SocialCrawl's unified schema is a different product: one auth header (x-api-key), one envelope (success, platform, endpoint, data, credits_used), plus computed fields when the endpoint returns them. A schematic call for the listen/report slice:
GET /v1/search/everywhere?q=your+brand
x-api-key: YOUR_KEY
That call is 20 credits. It does not give you Sprout's approval workflow. If the job is piping mentions into an LLM, MCP and Skills sit on the data-API side of this split. Sentiment as a dashboard tile on Advanced is also not the same thing as a scoring engine you run yourself.
How long does each option take to get live?
Sprout: 30-day trial, no credit card, annual default. Add-ons sit behind "Schedule a demo." SocialRails' "2–4 weeks training" and "early termination fees" are unsourced. CheckThat paraphrases Sprout's Terms (no refunds on unused prepaid; 30-day cancel notice); we did not re-open the Terms page, so we are not quoting them. Source: CheckThat Statusbrew is the same shape: an SMM login, not tested live here.
A data API is signup, a key, then Explorer. There is no inbox UI to learn because there isn't one. That is a limitation if you wanted an inbox.
Who should pick Sprout, Statusbrew, or a data API?
No overall winner. The column follows the job.
- If you run a client inbox and approvals, buy Sprout Professional or Advanced and pay the seats. That is what the suite is for.
- If you want that same SMM UI for less, Statusbrew (or Hootsuite at $99–$399/user — see Hootsuite pricing). Still a seat.
- If the analyst or lead only needs to pull, listen, and report, do not buy them Advanced seats. A data API is the slice. SocialCrawl belongs in that cell and nowhere else on this page.
- If you are a 501(c)(3), use Sprout's nonprofit ladder: min two seats, Professional/Advanced only, annual. That is not an agency discount.
Sprout Social pricing gets expensive when five Advanced seats plus an unpriced Listening add-on land on a team that mostly exports. Mixed-role teams should price the seats they would not buy, not the seats Sprout will gladly sell.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Sprout Social cost per month?

No. There is a 30-day trial, no credit card, with annual billing as the default. Source: Sprout pricing
Is Sprout Social cheaper than Hootsuite?
Not as a rule. Hootsuite's self-serve ladder is $99–$399/user — see Hootsuite pricing. Sprout Standard at $199 already sits above Hootsuite Standard at $99; Advanced matches Hootsuite Advanced at $399.
What's included in Standard vs Professional vs Advanced?

Per user/seat. Essentials and Standard cap five profiles; Professional and Advanced are unlimited profiles. No published volume discount. Source: Sprout pricing
Can you buy Sprout Social listening without Advanced?
Yes. Listening is an add-on to Standard and up — not a plan feature, not public-priced, and not the Standard inbox keyword monitor. You need Advanced for the Sprout API, not for Listening. Source: Sprout pricing
Is there a Sprout Social nonprofit or annual discount?
Annual is the discounted ladder versus monthly. Nonprofit: US 501(c)(3), Professional $239 / Advanced $299, minimum two seats, annual. Source: nonprofit pricing No published agency discount. Meta "up to 40%" versus displayed cuts of about 20–25%.
Re-check the live Sprout pricing page before you sign anything. We are not the vendor, and this SERP goes stale in months. If the job is the data slice rather than the inbox, the API docs are the next useful click.
