# Economy (/docs/economy) Household and tourism spending by country, US federal spending and contracts, and the overseas suppliers behind a US importer, from official public sources. Spending data by place, from official public sources: household and tourism spending by country from Eurostat, US federal spending and contract awards from USAspending.gov, and US import records from customs filings. Every response is one JSON object you can chart directly. Base URL: `/v1/economy/...` ## Spending by country and category ```bash title="Household transport spending, Germany and France" curl "https://www.socialcrawl.dev/v1/economy/consumer-spend?country_code=DE,FR&category=transport&from_year=2020&to_year=2024" \ -H "x-api-key: YOUR_KEY" ``` ```json title="Response (trimmed)" { "success": true, "data": { "unit": "eur_millions", "series": [ { "country": "DE", "category": "transport", "points": [ { "year": 2020, "value": 212906 }, { "year": 2021, "value": 224030 }, { "year": 2022, "value": 253929 } ] } ] }, "credits_used": 1 } ``` `category` takes the twelve household spending divisions (`food`, `transport`, `recreation`, `restaurants_hotels` and so on) or `total`. `unit` is `eur_millions`, `eur_per_capita` or `share_of_total`. The latest published year differs by country, so a year that has not been published yet is `null`, never 0. `/v1/economy/tourism-spend` works the same way for trips of one night or more, split into transport, accommodation, restaurants and other categories, with `purpose` (`personal` or `business`) and `destination` (`domestic` or `foreign`). ## US federal spending by place ```bash title="Federal air transport spending by state, fiscal year 2025" curl "https://www.socialcrawl.dev/v1/economy/government-spend?naics=4811&from_date=2024-10-01&to_date=2025-09-30" \ -H "x-api-key: YOUR_KEY" ``` Each region comes back with its amount, population and per-capita figure, largest first. On fiscal year 2025, Washington led air transport at $7,069,768. `geo` switches between `state`, `county` and `country`. `/v1/economy/government-contracts` returns the individual awards behind those totals, including purchase orders and delivery orders, for a `recipient`, `keyword`, `naics` or `psc` code, one page at a time. ## What a US company imports ```bash title="Nike's overseas suppliers and latest shipments" curl "https://www.socialcrawl.dev/v1/economy/imports?company=Nike&limit=5" \ -H "x-api-key: YOUR_KEY" ``` The response names the company the records were found under (`Nike Usa`, 139,985 shipments, latest 25/09/2026), its top overseas suppliers with shipment counts, its main product headings, and its latest bills of lading. Companies often file under a slightly different name, so `matches` lists the candidates and you can call again with the exact one. A company with no US import records is a 404 at 0 credits. ## Endpoints ## Notes - Every endpoint is a `GET` with query parameters, authenticated with the `x-api-key` header. - Statistics are annual or by fiscal period, so responses are cached for hours; a repeat of the same call in that window costs 0 credits. - Spending by product per marketplace sits on other platforms: `product.ext.bought_past_month` on `/v1/amazon/product-search` and units sold per market on `/v1/tiktokshop/sales`. Public company inventory and cost of goods sold are on `/v1/finance/fundamentals`.
